Being the “therapy friend” can be emotionally exhausting. 4ME 4 YOU is a mental health support program created by young people, for young people, because we get what it’s like to carry the weight of others while trying to hold yourself up too.
With every 4ME 4 YOU Box, you’ll receive thoughtful items for yourself and some for your friend, because your well-being matters just as much as theirs.
This is a preventative approach, not a reactive one. It’s not therapy, it’s a conversation starter. A meaningful, balanced way to offer encouragement, take action, and make sure everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
My
Story

The idea behind 4 ME 4 YOU comes from a place of lived experience and deep empathy. I’ve struggled with my own mental health from a young age, starting therapy in Year 6, and over time, I became familiar with both sides of the conversation: the one who needed support, and the one others turned to for help. In Year 11, I joined a Sonder Youth Change Makers program, where everything began to take shape. During open conversations, I realised just how many of us had been the “therapy friend”, the one carrying the emotional weight for friends, siblings, and even parents. While we all wanted to help, it was clear that something was missing: a way to support our loved ones without losing ourselves in the process. That moment sparked the idea for 4ME 4YOU: a mental health initiative that provides practical, preventative support for both the person struggling and the person supporting them. Later, I was accepted into the Trailblazers Program at Parliament House in Canberra, where I built connections and shared my vision with other young Changemakers. With the encouragement of people from both programs, I applied for a grant to bring 4ME 4YOU to life.
When I found out I got the grant, I was beyond excited and ready. What started as a conversation is now becoming something real.
We’re called 4ME 4YOU because every order includes two boxes:
-
A 4ME box, just for you to remind you that your mental health matters, too.
-
A 4YOU box, for a friend who may be struggling, to let them know you’re here, and they’re not alone.
It’s a small, meaningful way to say: “I care about you, but I also need to care for myself.” It’s about balance, boundaries, and creating a culture of mutual support. 4ME 4YOU is for the people who want to help, but are running on empty. It’s for the ones who show up for everyone else, even when they're struggling too. And it’s for those who just want to know they’re not alone.
This is more than a project; it’s a community, a mindset, and a movement. And I hope that as you explore what we’re building, you feel seen in it.

Each 4ME 4YOU box is a personalised care package created to support young people navigating tough times or mental health struggles. Every box includes three handpicked items chosen by the person receiving it, things that bring comfort, calm, or joy, along with helpful resources on where and how to seek support. Inside, you’ll also find simple ideas for activities that can be done together to take the focus off what’s weighing them down and gently shift the energy toward connection and relief.
Boxes can be ordered directly through our website. You can choose to include your name or stay anonymous, whatever feels right. Once the form is submitted, I’ll reach out via email or phone to arrange a time and place for you to receive the box, or confirm where it should be shipped.
It’s a small gesture that can mean so much, a way to show someone you matter, and you’re not alone.
